Quicktionary 2, Infoscan 2, ReadingPen 2:

Yes.  Some Pens contain more than one interface language. You can change the interface language on the Pen by accessing the Interface Language option from Preferences in the Pen Main Menu.

If your Pen is able to connect to the PC and came with a CD, you can install extra interface languages from the Install Add-Ons section on the CD. These include German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish and Korean.

Quicktionary TS, Infoscan TS and ReadingPen TS:

Yes you can.  Some Pens contain more than one interface language. If your Pen contains more than one interface language, you can access the Set Menu Display Language option from Preferences in the Pen Main Menu to change the interface language.

Note: The InfoScan™3 Lite can only display menu options in English.

Infoscan TS:

Yes, the Pen can scan in several languages.

If you are using Notes or Scan to PC, you can choose between the following pre-installed scanning languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese. Change the scanning language for the next new file by accessing the Settings Settings icon menu on the application toolbar and selecting Set Language for New File.

Quicktionary TS Premium:

In the Quicktionary application the Pen will scan in the language defined by the dictionary source language. If you have selected the English→French dictionary for example, the scanning language will be set to English, but if you select the French→English dictionary, you will need to scan in French to see results.

The scanning languages available in the Quicktionary depend on the dictionaries installed on your Pen.

If you are using Notes or Scan to PC, you can choose between several scanning languages. Change the scanning language for the next new file by accessing the Settings Settings icon menu on the application toolbar and selecting Set Language for New File.

Quicktionary TS:

The Pen will scan in the language defined by the dictionary source language. If, for example, you have selected the English→French dictionary, the scanning language will be set to English and if you select the French→English dictionary, you will need to scan in French to see results.

The scanning languages available depend on the dictionaries installed on your Pen.

Quicktionary 2, Infoscan 2, ReadingPen 2:

Almost all Pens are able to scan in English. Some Readingpens may only scan in one language, such as English, Dutch, SPanish or German. Other Pens have other scanning languages (Spellers) pre-installed on the Pen. These may include German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Swedish.

These languages are used for scanning in all applications except for the Quicktionary and Readingpen applications. In the Quicktionary and Readingpen applications, the scanning language is defined by the source language of the selected dictionary. For example, if you have selected the French to English dictionary, the scanning language will be French.

For Pens containing other applications, such as Notes or Scan to PC, you can change the default scanning language on the Pen by accessing the Scanning Language option from Preferences in the Pen Main Menu. If you select a scanning language for which a speller exists but is not loaded onto your Pen, you will receive the warning message, "No speller for selected language". Again, this applies to all applications except for the Quicktionary and Readingpen applications.

If your Pen is able to connect to the PC and came with a CD, you can install extra spellers from the Install Add-Ons section on the CD.

Spellers are components that optimize the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) in a particular scanning language. They enhance text recognition by correcting the spelling of the scanned text and assisting the OCR with recognizing hyphenated words and characters that are hard for the OCR to interpret.

Infoscan TS:

The IS TS and TS Elite Pens contain the following pre-installed spellers: English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese spellers . You can see which spellers are installed by going to Settings Settings icon/Set Language for New File. The list of languages available correlates to the spellers installed on the Pen.

Quicktionary TS Premium

All Pens are able to scan in English. Some Pens have other spellers pre-installed on the Pen. These may include German, French, Spanish or Portuguese.  You can see which spellers are installed by going to Settings Settings icon/Set Language for New File. The list of languages available correlates to the spellers installed on the Pen.

Please note that to change the scanning language in the Quicktionary application you need to change the selected dictionary and not the scanning language. For example, if you have both the English to French and French to English dictionaries installed on your Pen and you want to translate French text in Quicktionary application, you need to select the French to English dictionary from Settings Settings icon\Select Dictionary in the Quicktionary application toolbar in order to change the scanning language to French.

Infoscan 2, Quicktionary 2

All Pens are able to scan in English. Some Pens have other scanning languages (Spellers) pre-installed on the Pen. These may include German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Swedish.

If your Pen is able to connect to the PC and came with a CD, you can install extra spellers from the Install Add-Ons section on the CD. Since the spellers use a fair amount of the Pen's flash memory, it is recommended to only load spellers for languages in which you expect to scan.

You can change the default scanning language on the Pen by accessing the Scanning Language option from Preferences in the Pen Main Menu. If you select a scanning language for which a speller exists but is not loaded onto your Pen, you will receive the warning message, "No speller for selected language".

Please note that to change the scanning language in the Quicktionary application you need to change the selected dictionary and not the scanning language. For example, if you have both the English to French and French to English dictionaries installed on your Pen and you want to translate French text in Quicktionary application, you need to select the French to English dictionary from Dictionary\Select Dictionary in the Quicktionary Menu in order to change the scanning language to French.

Only users who have a Quicktionary®2 Premium or who have added extra memory to their Pens with an MEK (memory extension card) can install additional dictionaries onto their Pens.

Dictionaries can be added from the CD accompanying the Quicktionary®2 Premium or by accessing the downloads page for the Quicktionary®2 Premium on the website.

The Image Capture application is used for scanning signatures, small icons, and scraps of handwritten notes. It is not suitable for scanning long handwritten pages.  The captured images are saved as picture files and if desired, can be edited on the PC using a graphics application.

The size of the image that can be scanned is limited to the dimensions of the Pen's optical head, which is up to 1792 pixels wide (approx. half a line of A4). Images are saved as bitmaps (.bmp files) and can be transferred to your PC. When you install the application onto your Pen, it will update the Desktop application to allow you to view the captured images on your PC.

You can install the Image Capture application on your Pen only if your Pen has PC connectivity and it is upgraded with the latest software.

Click here to download the Image Capture application.

When the installation is complete, you will be able to access the Image Capture application from the Pen Main Menu.

To use the application: Select Image Capture from the Pen Main Menu.  Select Scan New File and give the new file a name. You will see the words "Ready to scan an Image:" on the screen. Scan the image horizontally, either from left to right or vice versa. If the scanning results are poor, try scanning slower.

The scanned image will appear on the Pen screen. The scanned image will appear larger than the Pen display. Press ENT to reduce the image size.

The image will be saved on the Pen for future transfer to the PC. After transfer, view the saved images in the Desktop application by clicking on the Image Capture icon on the left of the screen. A list of *.bmp files will appear, and the first image will be displayed on the screen. To open an image in the application on your PC associated with *.bmp files (e.g., Paint), click on the image name and then either double-click on the file name, or right-click on the file name and select Open.
